Times Square Toys’R’Us Is Full Of Empty Shelves And Sadness

"Я" forever. (Coyoty)
Earlier this year, we learned that the huge flagship Toys”R”Us store in New York City’s Times Square would be closing after the toy-centric holiday of Christmas. Today, the store still stands, full of empty shelves and sadness. Also, there’s still a big Star Wars display.

Over at Gothamist, they have photos from the scene, which includes employees packing up the dregs, empty bulk candy bins, and the Ferriss wheel that will turn no more.

Toys”R”Us owns FAO Schwarz, which closed its last remaining physical store in July. It’s hunting for a new home, and presumably the giant stuffed animals are hanging out in a warehouse somewhere, awaiting a new home.
